It’s alright to be foolish
Traces of the dream we gaze across
Farewell, days of our youth

To entrust one’s body to the flow is to one day become an adult
But, must we become dirty little by little?

Only the ripened fruits are chosen,
And they are torn apart by a knife before being gulped1 down

We aimed for Shangri-la, unable to suppress all our desire
And continued to pursue our fantasy-covered “freedom”
I believe we can say it now – this place is paradise.
Farewell, days of our youth

Despite having changed something dear to us into a footstool,
We still wanted to grasp the highest apple

We failed to understand how precious it was until we lost it
For our young selves, this realization did not come easily

Suppressing the happier days causes my emotions to become unstable
Although I’m wounded, I still want to fly
It’s alright to be foolish – traces of the dream we gaze across
Farewell, days of our youth

The sparkling sky was dressed in innocence
It had known everything…

We aimed for Shangri-la, unable to suppress all our desire
And continued to pursue our fantasy-covered “freedom”
If only we could leave some distance behind, then we would realize our own size
Without our immature hearts knowing even that,
I believe we can say it now – this place is paradise.
Farewell, days of our youth

Quite the interesting song… I enjoy the sound of it.  atsuko’s usage of “bokura” implies that the song is being sung by a male about himself and his companion(s).  She also uses the masculine sentence-ending particle a lot in this song… just to add some testosterone, I guess.

1 Aparently 呑み込む means not only “to gulp down” but also “to understand”

2 dunno if this would be considered a pun, but 高い is commonly used for “expensive” as well as “tall” or “high.”  Therefore the highest apple is also the most costly.
